Air quality is the key to wellbeing in cities – SmartWatcher urban tech

The current COVID-19 pandemic has changed our habits and living conditions, maybe permanently. People spend more time indoors in their own homes and want to breath clean air there. Better air quality in workplaces and public spaces has also been identified as one of the key factors in pandemic response. When building new spaces or renovating old ones, monitoring the air quality is essential to make the spaces safe and healthy for users. Cities all around the world are the key actors in this.

Already for five years, SmartWatcher from Vantaa, Finland has been specializing in monitoring the cleanliness and safety of indoor air. Company’s extremely precise sensors provide exact and real-time information that you can follow remotely 24/7.  Monitoring and reporting inadequate and harmful air quality helps minimizing the damage to health and to buildings.

SmartWatcher has been targeting for international markets from the beginning. The company already has established itself in Sweden and other Nordic countries are naturally also on the list. For Central Europe and especially for Germany, the company receives additional boost this autumn also from German Scalers growth program funded by BusinessTampere and  6Cities Ecosystems of Growth –project.  Middle East and especially UAE and Saudi Arabia are also interesting markets. SmartWatcher also participated an internationalization trip to Singapore in 2019, organized by Helsinki Business Hub and 6Cities Ecosystems of Growth –project.

What has the growth program given to SmartWatcher so far?

Urban Tech growth program has helped the company to focus on work that helps the international market. “We value greatly that the City of Vantaa has supported our startup with this program”, says Pauli Tarna from SmartWatcher. “Another important public support function has been Business Finland, that has provided us funding and enabled our product development.”
